The aim of this module is to describe and justify an approach that considers environmental effects, costs and qualities in the decision process leading to a more sustainable environment. The approach can be used on different scale levels from building materials, over construction elements and buildings to campus or district level.
Core components
• "Life Cycle Analysis" and "Life Cycle Impact analysis": application in the construction sector;
• Single score evaluation versus multiple score systems;
• Advantages of monetization of environmental effects;
• Simulation models on different scale levels (focus on elements and buildings);
• Decision models based on marginal efficiency of additional improvements;
• Steps towards implementing sustainability via clear long term policy measures.
